We’re all made to love music, and it’s that very philosophy that drove every decision our agency strategized for Ultimate Ear’s new UE BOOM product experience. So when the brand approached us for a dramatic change in how users learned about and interacted with products, we couldn’t wait to raise the bar dramatically. Our agency started by overhauling the primary consumer-facing product pages to boldly introduce this incredibly diverse line of colorful and powerful wireless speakers. The new pages embody capture the “live out loud” aesthetic, incorporating engaging animation, movement and interactive features that allow users to easily learn information about products and attributes before making a purchase. The goal was to create a memorable and impactful experience that would increase the average time spent on each page and impact online conversion. In addition, the new design and features needed to accurately reflect the brand’s personality and connect strongly with the target audience.

TACTICS

Our strategists noticed right away that the company’s visual identity on the web was unfocused and inconsistent. So our team made sure that every element on the newly crafted pages were cohesive while maintaining the brand’s lively and carefree visuals. We utilized bold colors and subtle, distressed detail to help reinforce the energetic visual identity. A variety of subtle movement was added for extra engagement when viewing the different color options. Even the drop down menu received a completely new look and enjoyable experience.

In addition to the immersive product experience, we felt it was important to communicate the brand’s values. So we concepted a brand story page to highlight Ultimate Ears and the unique approach taken in manufacturing these exceptionally high quality consumer audio products. Ultimate Ears is still evolving and many consumers are just discovering the company and its unique product lines. So having the ability to communicate what sets Ultimate Ears apart from all other portable wireless speaker providers in the market place is vital.

Ultimate Ears targets key user groups that include millennials and tech savvy individuals looking for both quality and value in their portable audio products. We knew that the majority of online visitors would find the brand via a mobile device. As such optimizing the mobile experience for these users was a priority. Every interaction was carefully considered and outlined in order to optimize the mobile experience. Content hierarchy drove many of our decisions as the experience had to be clean and effortless. But make no mistake, every detail is just as compelling when viewed on a phone or tablet. 

Results

In addition to the new pages our digital agency created from scratch, a variety of back-end, content management system and migration improvements were folded into the scope of this project. We even helped configure databases to work together seamlessly, making migrations nearly automatic and saving Ultimate Ears hours of manual work for every update.
